The Anglican EcoCare Commission is charged with promoting the Fifth Mark of Mission, “to strive to safeguard the integrity of creation, and sustain and renew the life of the earth.”
Part of our work this year is our RURAL-URBAN PARTNERSHIP. This is an initiative to bring together rural and urban parishes within our diocese. Urban parishes will be linked with a rural parish to help care for God’s creation through tree-planting and other activities. By replanting communal and public areas as well as church land, we will be directly assisting much needed ecological restoration of the land. This is an excellent opportunity to connect with other sisters and brothers in Christ, foster new relationships and overcome the city-country divide. Trillion Trees (formerly the Men of the Trees) will aid this work by providing models of similar programs and advice.
